National Night Out Block Party on Aug. 1 at Grant

Grant Middle School will host the local National Night Out block party 6-9 p.m. on Aug. 1.

Entertainment will include the local band New Park Drive. There will also be six bouncy houses and numerous community partners setting up booths as well as giveaways and local food trucks.

Vehicles from the Marion City Police Department and Marion City Fire Department will be on display.

GEAR UP office open in summer

Did you know that your friendly neighborhood GEAR UP staff is in all summer? Whether you are a recent grad with questions about your GEAR UP or other scholarships or are going to be taking the ACT in the fall and want help registering and preparing for it, you can find your GEAR UP advisor at Harding High School Monday-Thursday, 8am-3pm. We are also available by phone at 740-223-4729.

Kindergarten registration make-up day Aug. 2

Parents who missed Marion City Schools' kindergarten registration in the spring may register for a make-up kindergarten registration day.

The make-up day will be held 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 2, in room 225 in Grant Middle School.

Benjamin Harrison receives statewide recognition
The Ohio Association of Elementary School Administrators has announced that Benjamin Harrison Elementary School has been selected as a 2017 Hall of Fame School.

The Hall of Fame School Award recognizes schools that engage faculty, students and the community to provide a quality school experience. The school staff submitted an extensive application documenting the effectiveness of their educational program in several areas.
