Open enrollment window opens April 1
A student’s address generally determines what school building and/or school district that the student attends. Marion City School District assigns students who live within the district to what building serves their attendance area and, in the need of special education, their specific needs.
Students who want to change schools or school districts must apply for open enrollment.
Marion City Schools offers two types of open enrollment:
- From one school building to another, called intra-district open enrollment. The intra-district open enrollment window is April 1, 2020 through June 1, 2020.
- From another school district into Marion City School District, called inter-district open enrollment. The cut-off to apply for inter-district open enrollment is 2 weeks after the start of the school year.
Families may submit open enrollment applications to the Student Enrollment Center at 100 Executive Dr. starting on April 1. Families can also mail applications to Student Enrollment Center, 100 Executive Dr., Marion, OH 43302. Applications will be date stamped upon receipt of delivery. Applications should not be mailed to individual buildings.
A student accepted for a given school year will not be displaced. However, parents/guardians MUST RE-APPLY EACH SCHOOL YEAR. Marion City Schools DOES NOT GUARANTEE ENROLLMENT from one school year to the next.
Marion City Schools will consider applicants on a first-come, first-serve basis. Possible reasons for rejection of an application include if enrollment in a grade level or course reaches the appropriate level.
Applications must be submitted to the Marion City Schools Student Enrollment Center at 100 Executive Dr.
We encourage you to call 740-223-4422 or schedule a visit at the Student Enrollment Center at 100 Executive Drive if you have any questions regarding enrollment at Marion City Schools.
