PREXIES STAFF SPOTLIGHT: Crystal Smith at Harding

Prexie Staff Spotlights

Welcome to our staff!

We cherish our staff at Marion City Schools for the work they do to inspire a community of achievement. Our Prexie Staff Spotlights are designed to celebrate our staff and let them say in their own words how they fulfill our mission and vision statements. It's also a chance to honor our "family" at Marion City Schools and to give you a chance to get to know them too.

PREXIES STAFF SPOTLIGHT: Crystal Smith at Harding

Our Prexies Staff Spotlight feature gives us an opportunity to showcase our staff and how they inspire a community of achievement every day. This week we feature Crystal Smith, who works in Harding's guidance office.

Crystal Smith

Current Position: Harding High School Guidance Secretary

Education: Harding High School graduate, Associates degree from The Ohio State University

Favorite Hobbies: Reading and spending time with my family.

Mentor: I don't think I can choose just one person to be my mentor. There are many people who have helped influence me and have helped shape me into the person I am today as well as the person I want to become. I have strong individuals in my life that have led long successful lives as well as some that were taken from this world too soon and all of them have taught me to be a kind, thoughtful, independent, strong-willed person and to always treat others with the respect and kindness that they deserve. Everyday is a learning experience and everyday I am learning to be a better version of myself.

Songs in my soundtrack of life:
"Live Like you are Dying" by Tim McGraw
"Don't Stop Believin" by Journey
"Unwritten" by Natasha Bedingfield

How do I inspire a communnity of achievement?
I help to inspire a community of achievement by being an available resource for our students. Students come into the guidance office looking for answers on just about any and everything. I help provide students with information regarding scholarship opportunities, college visit information, enrollment questions, testing information as well as work permits and job opportunities. I understand how intimidating it can be for a student to walk into an office and ask staff they aren't familiar with, a question so I try to make the guidance office as welcoming as I can. I will do anything I can to make sure our students have what they need to succeed not only here at school, but also in our community and beyond.
