P.B.I.S. Rewards

Fun Friday - Students who have 4 out of 5 "good days" of the week are rewarded with a Fun Friday activity. To have a "good day" a student must have his/her planner signed, turn in all homework, and have good behavior.

PBIS Rewards - Students will have the opportunity to earn tickets for demonstrating the following character traits: responsibility, being a leader, honesty, being respectful, and kindness. These tickets can be redeemed for various rewards.
Clip Up - Students are able to clip up this year. This is done for going beyond classroom and school expectations.

What is PBIS?

Marion City Schools is committed to collaboratively establishing a safe, respectful and caring environment that promotes student learning. One of the tools that we use is Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support, a preventive, proactive team-based approach to teaching behavioral expectations throughout the school.

PBIS is a school-wide system that focuses on teaching appropriate behavior to all students in the school. Its purpose is to create a positive environment that promotes unity, maximizes learning and makes everyone feel welcome. It establishes a positive school culture so that a school can be an effective learning environment for all students.

PBIS emphasizes prevention of student behavior problems through the use of non-aversive techniques, which should greatly reduce, if not eliminate, the need to use restraint and/or seclusion.

Benefits of PBIS include:

  • Reduction in problem behavior
  • Increased student engagement
  • Improved academic performance
  • Improved classroom management

Each school building adapts PBIS to fit its needs.
