Eighth Grade Washington, D.C. Trip

Dear Grant 8th Grade families,

This is an unprecedented time that we are experiencing. It is presenting new challenges daily for all of us, and we must work together to successfully navigate through these uncharted waters.

Many of you have asked about the status of the Grant Middle School 8th Grade field trip to Washington, D.C. because of the closure caused by the coronavirus pandemic. Unfortunately, we are going to cancel that trip because the health and well-being of your student and our staff is a priority in the Marion City Schools.

With the trip now canceled, you probably have questions about a refund. Mrs. Uline, Mr. Ballinger and our district leadership team are aware that Prodigy Student Travels’ refund policy is that they will give back 80% of the total trip expense paid by each family. I, like you, find that policy to be unacceptable given the current state of affairs.

The building and district leadership team and I are working diligently to press Prodigy Student Travels on how they plan to get reimbursements to you, and to get them to issue a 100% refund to each of our Grant Middle School 8th Grade families. We’re hopeful that reimbursements will be made by the end of June. However, we cannot provide a definite timeline based on the current uncertainty we face.

I would ask for your continued patience and understanding because this is not an easy process. If you have any additional questions, please send them to news@mcspresidents.org and we will work to respond to your questions as quickly as possible.

Sincerely,

Ronald J. Iarussi EdD
Superintendent
