January 2020 Testing at Harding High School
Dear Parent/Guardian,
This letter is to notify you that Harding High School will be administering end-of-course state tests the week of January 6th - January 10th. The testing will take place during the regular school hours from 7:30 am to 2:30 pm. This opportunity to retake the Ohio State Tests is for students to improve their prior scores on ELA I or II, Algebra or Geometry,Biology, and American History or Government. Juniors, sophomores, and freshmen that scored below a three will be scheduled to retake their end-of-course state tests. Students and parents/ guardians may have their child test other subjects if they request to do so. Please reach out to the school counselors or administrator to schedule additional testing.
All seniors who have not reached their graduation points or alternate pathway for graduation will be required to take any test in which they have not met the requirement; including ELA 1, ELA 2, Algebra, Geometry, Biology, American History, and Government.
The scheduled testing days are:
January 6th - ELA 1 retakes and Government for seniors
January 7th - Algebra retakes and Geometry for seniors
January 8th - Biology retakes
January 9th - American History retakes
January 10th - ELA 2 for seniors
Each student will be provided a test ticket which informs them of the date, time (morning or afternoon), and room in which they will take their test. This ticket will be given to students by December 18th. In addition, there will be a master test sheet posted in multiple locations throughout Harding High School for students to reference during this week.
The End-Of-Course State Tests
The Ohio State Tests are a graduation requirement. Students must earn a total of 18 points and sub score points. End-of-course tests are: Algebra I, Geometry, American Government, American History, Biology, ELA I, and ELA II. Each test score has the potential for students to earn up to five points. Students must have a minimum of four points in math, four points in ELA and six points across science and social studies. To benefit your son/daughter for the day of the test, we advise that each student get a good night’s sleep so they are rested, focused, and ready to perform well. Students will be offered free breakfast before the test. No food, beverages, or cell phones are permitted in the testing rooms.
