INTERESTED IN A HIGH DEMAND JOB IN THE HEALTHCARE INDUSTRY RIGHT AFTER GRADUATION?
WOULD YOU LIKE TO EARN CREDENTIALS WHILE ATTENDING SCHOOL?
DO YOU LIKE HELPING OTHERS?
The Community Career Connections Program -Ohio (C3PO) might be a great opportunity for you!
Now in our second year, the Community Career Connections Program (Ohio) provides Rushmore students the unique opportunity to train and become certified as a Direct Support Professional (DSP). The C3PO program allows Rushmore students to earn their DSPATHS Certification of Initial Proficiency (CIP). Upon completion of the program, students will be certified as a Direct Support Professional.
This will allow students to assist individuals with a disability lead self-directed lives and help them with daily activities. This program requires 60 hours of classroom instruction. In addition, student candidates are required to demonstrate their skills through a self made professional portfolio.
Direct Support Professionals are in high demand around the state of Ohio and especially in Marion, Ohio. Once a student earns this certificate, they no longer need any other credentials to work in this field. DSP’s earn an hourly wage and can work full time, part time, days or night shifts. Students will work closely with facilities around Marion that hire DSPs. This allows the students to have a first hand look at possible employment sites.
If you are a Rushmore student interested in healthcare and helping others, this program is exactly what you need. Allow yourself to become a DSP while earning 3 credits toward high school graduation. If you are interested in applying for the C3PO programs, please contact Ms. Jessica Jerew, Rushmore School Counselor.
