Program Overview

The Automotive Technology program is designed to equip students with the necessary training and skills to start a career in the comprehensive automotive industry which includes much needed industry work ethics. As an automotive student you’ll learn a variety of entry level skills including the key areas listed below and working with an ASE certified instructor.

  • Personal safety and safe work environments
  • Engine cylinder head and block assemblies
  • Computerized engine controls
  • Ignition systems
  • Fuel, air induction and exhaust systems
  • Lubrication and cooling systems
  • Hydraulic disc and drum brake systems
  • Antilock brake and traction control system
  • Electrical and electronic systems
  • Starting and charging systems
  • Lighting and accessory systems
  • Heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems
  • Steering and suspension systems
  • Wheels and tires
  • Basic vehicle maneuverability
  • Estimate and invoice creation

  • Credentials

    Students will have the opportunity to earn Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Student Certifications in 10 different areas. ASE is the only industry recognized certification in the automotive industry. This will give a student who earns these certifications something they can take to an employer that will greatly improve their chances of becoming employed.

    Simulated Workplace

    Students will create their own simulated company where every employee (student) will have a specific position within the company. The simulated workplace environment permits students the opportunity to take ownership of their individual performance as it impacts the overall success of their education, while thriving in an authentic workplace culture. Simulated Workplace also encourages local business and industry experts to join onsite review teams to assist schools in meeting their workforce needs and expectations.
