School Delays/Closings

School Delays/Closings

From time to time during the school year, Marion City Schools may operate remotely, experience delays or early dismissals or make changes in school schedules and activities due to inclement weather. If school is affected due to bad weather, the Marion City School District operates on either a two-hour delay or a complete school closure for the day. Bus service will still be operational if we are on a delay.

In an effort to disseminate announcements in a timely and cost-effective manner, the first step in our notification process will be electronic. We will contact all parents and staff using the One Call system and the MCS app. We will also post the notification on our website as well as our social media channels. Our local media outlets will also be notified. Thank you!

If there is a two-hour delay, schools will open at the following times:
9:40 a.m. at Harding High School
10:05 a.m. at Grant Middle School

Preschool delays
If there is a two-hour delay, the morning class will start at 11 a.m. and end at 12:30 p.m.
The afternoon class will start at 2 p.m. and end at 3:30 p.m.  There will be no transportation for Preschool on days with a 2-hour delay.
