Our Mission

Inspire a Community of Achievement

Our Philosophy

Marion City Schools' mission statement is to inspire a community of achievement. We ultimately define achievement for our students as being prepared for success after they graduate. We came up with our Three Pillars to help them achieve that success.

Our Three Pillars follow three distinct themes including Leadership, Learning, and Legacy. We want our students to leave high school with not only their diploma but also acceptance into a two-or four-year college, an adult training program, the military, or a high-paying, in-demand job.

That's just part of what makes Marion City Schools unique in the area. We offer innovative experiences, educational options and learning programs not available in surrounding school districts. We search for ways to prepare students for not only academic success but success in college and careers as well.

Our Three Pillars

Marion City Schools developed its four pillars to support its vision, namely how to provide a rigorous and innovative instructional model.

The three pillars are:
  • Leadership
By 2024, MCS will reduce staff turnover and improve open enrollment ratio by 10%
  • Learning
By 2024, MCS will maintain a 3 stars or better on all components of the Local Report Card and MCS will improve the school environment as measured through a reduction in discipline days (expulsion, out-of-school, in-school suspension) to less than 2,800 total days.
  • Legacy
By 2024, MCS will achieve a 75% or better on the College, Career, Workforce and Military Readiness component on the Local Report Card.

Community

Marion City Schools is fortunate to be located in a community that supports the education of its youth. This is true for residents who are family members of our children and for those who don’t have relatives in our schools. We are blessed to have amazing community partnerships with businesses and organizations like OhioHealth, Marion Technical College and The Ohio State University-Marion, as well as amazing relationships with the Marion Police Department, the Marion City Fire Department and others. These entities and many more play a vital role in the success of our students. Check out what's happening in Marion on our Community Info Page.
